I have decided that the adventures of a figure skating family are so very entertaining. The entire world needs to know the ups and downs, and the joys related to ice skating. As often as possible I will update this blog with my figure skating family's unusual and unique day to day ice skating adventures!

Joel Jumping Ramps - June 25, 2021
Joel is taking a break from touring. He has really enjoyed jumping ramps in the show. Below are photos and videos of one of his last days of jumping. He'll be teaching skiing in Sun Valley this coming season again and hopes to do some ski jumping!

Rebekah Jumps Ramps! 6-13-2021
My daughter Rebekah is the first girl ever to jump ramps in Disney On Ice! Her brother Joel is jumping ramps right alongside her in these videos. I am one proud mom!
Below is what Rebekah wrote on Facebook about her jumping ramps adventure:
"Four months ago I had never stepped foot onto a ramp in any shape or form, let alone thought that I would be doing it live in an ice show.
The first day I went to ramp practice, I had no helmet or pads, and was wearing my moms 20+ year old hockey skates. I basically did a few laps and then sent a jump onto the mats...
Honestly it didn’t go that great. I fell so hard that I practically broke my hip. Yet, my crazy self wanted to come back the next day and try again. With the help of the other rampers and @jimmyhake, I slowly learned how to drop in and soon enough I was jumping the ramps.
The learning curve has been interesting and it has taken me awhile to figure out how to ride the ramps, and as you can see I still have a lot of room for improvement. But in just a few short months, something that I thought I’d try for fun has blossomed into a full blown obsession.
I’ve been incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to be the first female ramper to ever perform in this ice show. I’m the first girl to ever be on the ramp team in general and I can’t wait to see that change in the future. At first, I was super intimidated to even get on the ice with the ramp team, but these guys turned out to be the most supportive group I could ask for and performing with them has truly been one of the best experiences I’ve ever had in the ice show.
I’m so excited to see where all of this takes me.
Cheers!
